Trust & safety
Gig'le connects artists with organisers and venues. This page explains what Gig'le does and does not do, how to stay safe when you find or post a gig, and how to tell us about a problem.
What Gig'le does, and what it doesn't
- Gigs are listed openly. Every gig on the Gigs board states the craft, location, experience level and pay, as written by the organiser who posted it, so you can judge it before you apply.
- Organisers post, artists apply. Posting gigs and hosting events are part of the Organizer plan. Artists press Apply, the organiser is notified and accepts or declines.
- Gig'le does not handle gig payments. The fee, advance and payment dates are agreed directly between the artist and the organiser.
- Gig'le does not check identities or credentials. Look at a person's work and speak to them before you agree anything.
- Everyone agrees to the Community Guidelines. They set out how members must treat each other, in posts, messages and events. Gig'le is for people aged 18 and over. Read the Community Guidelines.
Staying safe as an artist
- Look into the organiser. Check their profile, the events they have run and the venue. If something does not add up, ask.
- Never pay to get a gig. Be wary of anyone who asks you for money, a "registration fee" or bank details in exchange for work.
- Agree the terms in writing. The fee, the advance, payment dates, timings, equipment and what happens if the gig is cancelled. Our live performance agreement checklist covers what to confirm.
- Keep personal details private. Never share passwords or one-time codes (OTPs). Share your home address only when you need to.
- Tell someone where you are going, especially for a private event or a venue you do not know.
- Trust your instincts. If an offer seems too good to be true, or someone pressures you to decide quickly, take a step back.
Staying safe as an organiser or venue
- Describe the gig honestly. State the date, location, what you need and the pay, so artists know what they are applying for.
- Watch live clips and speak to the artist before you choose. A short call tells you a lot.
- Agree the terms in writing, including timings, equipment, payment and cancellation, and pay as agreed.
- Look after people at your event. Organisers are responsible for the safety of artists and attendees at their events, as the Community Guidelines set out.
